« Amisi Tambwe’s superb hat-trick propelled Young Africans to win Mainland premier soccer league title after demolishing visiting Police Moro by 4-1 goals at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam yesterday.

Yanga have attained a 55-point mark which is unassailable by the rest of the 13 teams competing in the league. Yanga are champions after two years having dethroned holders Azam FC who are still struggling for the runners-up spot with Simba.

The victory has been celebrated by fans of the team who turned out in big numbers at the stadium anticipating their milestone achievement ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup return leg against Tunisian side Etoile du Sahel later this weekend in Tunis.

During yesterday’s game, Tambwe who crossed over from Simba during mid-season December transfer window, opened his hat-trick account after 41 minutes connecting home Simom Msuva’s goal-bound ground cross.

Police FC had launched a series of attacks during the opening half with strikers Suleiman Selembi and Said Bahanuzi at their best.
Tambwe was on target again eight minutes after resumption when he notched the second goal for his team courtesy of Mrisho Ngasa’s cross.

Police had replaced former Yanga striker Bahanuzi for Nicholas Kabipe barely a minute before conceding the second goal.

Tambwe concluded his second hat-trick of the season after 59 minutes when he also made full use of aerial cross by Ngasa as the visitors were completely overwhelmed. Msuva closed Yanga’s score sheet with the fourth goal after 66 minutes.

Yanga coach Hans van Pluijm replaced Tambwe thereafter for Jerry Tegete as Police searched for a consolation goal. They had their efforts paid off when Admini Bantu scored in the 84th minute courtesy of substitute Kabipe’s pass. »
