CECAFA Kagame Cup Champions Young Africans have snatched Burundian striker Didier Kavumbagu from Atletico as they seek to rebuild their team under Coach Tom Saintfeit. Kavumbagu caught the eye of the Belgian Coach after scoring a brace against them in their opening CECAFA encounter.

“Didier is a great player and a great striker. His combination with Hamiisi Kiiza and Said Bahanuzi will be a powerful partnership. We always need to have enough players because at times players get injured or fatigued and we have to change them time and again,” Yanga Coach Tom Saintfeit told Michezoafrika.com.

The Coach has also hinted that they are looking to sign one more foreign player as they seek to complete the transfer business.

“We have only one slot remaining for an international player. We have several on our radar and we are scrutinizing each of them and their abilities to see who will best suite our needs. There are several Kenyan players in our radar as well whom we have been following for quite some time. We have around seven days before the window closes and we hope to finalize everything by then,” Coach Saintfeit told Michezoafrika.com.

The team started training on Tuesday as they seek to reclaim the Vodacom Premier League title from arch rivals Simba SC. Only a few players missed from the session including Hamisi Kiiza who is still in Uganda and Under 20 players who are preparing for the return leg match against Nigeria in two weeks time.

Juma Abdhul has also not started training since he is yet to recover from the injury he got in the semi finals of the Kagame Cup.
